Tempesta Gallery is pleased to announce the June 22^nd opening of “Surrender” a photographic exhibition by Arianna Lago. Arianna is an Italian photographer and artist living in Los Angeles, and her debut solo exhibition highlights a retrospective selection of photographs taken over the last 6 years in her everyday life and travels.  The pronounced themes of serendipity and synchronicity in the featured images are the visual conclusions drawn from her commitment to relinquishing control over her surroundings and surrendering to each moment.

Her organic approach and unyielding curiosity make her universe of potential subject matter expansive, capturing a range of everyday subjects from the mundane to the objectively extraordinary.  The images captured in “Surrender” include flowers, plants, insects, fruits and natural landscapes as well as evidence of the impact of the cycles of nature and decay on all of the foregoing.

Through this collection, Arianna Lago effectively outlines her artistic trajectory and invites viewers to experience a world that is both familiar and foreign at once – a spontaneous walk down the random avenues of the natural world.   Rather than attempting to control any given environment, she embraces the unplanned and the ephemeral.  Consequently, Arianna shoots primarily in analog format – a choice that unifies the themes of her work with her photographic process.

“I liked the name “Surrender” because it is something I do every single day in my process.  In fact, my photography is wholly dependent on my willingness to surrender control.  By letting go of my will to affect my environment for the sake of the prospective image, I am sincerely open to the natural world around me, including all of its imperfections and disruptions.  I fall in love with unexpected moments all the time.”  — Arianna Lago.

The research promoted by the photographer eludes the idea of ​​consumerism, linked to products and stereotypes. In her work Arianna tries to involve entities and individuals with whom she shares the same values. His photography is a medium that promotes a positive impact, which can inspire greater awareness and virtuous action on issues related to sustainability. The collaboration with Tempesta Gallery has developed organically thanks to the shared commitment of the two realities in ecological issues from a curatorial and creative point of view.
